CHELSEA CLOSE IN ON TITLE AS BELGIUM YOUNGSTER DIES AFTER DAYS OF COLLAPSING ON THE FIELD.

Terry and Ivanovic celebrates after drawing with arsenal
Chelsea are one match away in lifting the Barclays Premier League after winning yesterday at Leicester, the champions elect showed why they are champions elect by coming from behind to win convincingly with goals from Drogba, terry and Ramires thunder bolt putting Chelsea in a perfect position to lift the trophy,
after this win their nearest contender for the title which is arsenal would have to win their remaining games, anything short of that is a sorry case for them. can Arsenal create an upset or can Chelsea hold on to claim the trophy they last won five years ago, only time would tell.

News reaching me this evening reported that Belgian youngster Gregory Mertens is dead, a sorry case for his family and i really sympathies with them and his teammate for this great loss, he was so promising and at a tender age of 24 is a sorry case.

A club statement said: "The medical staff have done everything to save Gregory, but they finally had to acknowledge their impotence.
"Gregory passed away at around 16:30."
The former Belgium Under-21 international's condition had worsened since he was taken to hospital in Genk, with doctors giving him little chance of survival.

This are tweets from his Belgian teammates playing in England, but the highlighted one below is a player that passed through similar condition but survived.

Belgium and Everton forward Romelu Lukaku  added: "Rest In Peace Gregory Mertens ... Gone too soon. Life is crazy sometimes man... One day you're here next day you're gone."

Chelsea and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois  said: "RIP Gregory Mertens! Much strength to family and friends!"

And Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj  , also a Belgium international, said: "RIP Gregory Mertens my thoughts go out to his family and friends at this sad time."
